October 2017 News

For October 2017:

  1. What's the Buzz: There will be an important presentation to the Lassonde community on the Decanal Search Process! We are hiring a new Dean of Lassonde. October 30th, 12 pm (refreshments provided), 2nd floor of Bergeron.
  2. YUGSA has a number of bursaries and other small academic funding support available. Please find the online application forms (due December 1) on their website: http://yugsa.ca/
  3. We are organizing a CV/Resume workshop in a couple of weeks! Stay tuned. The Co-Chairs are training themselves to provide a guiding framework (specific to our particular needs) and detailed feedback. This is to help us go beyond what general resume clinics offer. So, please have your draft CV and resume ready in the next 10 days.

*Also, we have sent members to utilize the Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy services available right here on campus! (Positive feedback has bene received on the Physiotherapy.) Most of us have serious back and neck problems. Please get treatment early, to prevent serious damage (and costly recovery). You can book appointments here: http://www.athletescare.com/sports-medicine-clinics/keele--steeles---york-u:-track-centre--toronto~8.html

Recent events:

  1. Mech Eng Grad Orientation Day was a great success! You can find Xueling's presentation here (which will also available be on our Resources page in the near future).
  2. Mech Eng Connect event, co-hosted by the undergraduate Mech Eng Club (MEC) and graduate MEGSA, was also a success! Minha, Elnaz, Sina, along with Roger C. and Salman, served as facilitators alongside the senior undergraduate students. Arslan (MEC President), Roger, Salman, and Minha were actively engaged in planning the evening's activities. It was awesome to meet so many first and second year students!
  3. Edouard and Sara, who were visiting students during the summer, returned to France and Poland in August. They became a big part of our graduate and undergraduate community. With so many memories around research, camping, and Toronto exploration, we wish them all the success!
  4. Shuzhe and Gurtej have done an excellent job, following our election, to represent us and build communication between the Graduate Program Committee and our MEGSA student body. Thank you!
