For December 2017:
- Christmas Tree Decoration! Great initiative by Sina, we will have some colours and warmth in our office! Many of us are miles away from our families, and we cherish the friendship and camaraderie we are building here. We push each other to be the best we can be in all areas of life! Please create or bring ornaments to decorate our tree throughout December 5-8.
- CV/Resume Workshops are being held on December 7-8! Sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/mechanical-engineering-graduate-students-cvresume-workshop-tickets-39697628676
- January Event will have a celebratory theme of our diverse cultural heritage. Great initiative by Pouriya, creating an opportunity to appreciate the ingenuity and beauty in our heritage, and to reflect on what makes us a strong community. If you have a great poem to share from different languages, please let us know. We'll also discuss strategies to create an inclusive, respectful, empowering culture in and around MEGSA.
- Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME) Annual Conference 2018 will be hosted by York University. Diego, Pouriya and Minha are already actively involved in the Organizing Committee. We heard there was great interest from you to get involved! Email Minha at minha.r.ha[at]gmail.com, and we'll get you plugged in!

- Grad Open House: It was Lassonde's turn to host an open house for engineering graduate programs, joined by McMaster, Queen's and other organizations! We had fabulous volunteers and representation from MEGSA - Xueling on managing the event details, Kapil on a beautiful presentation, Gurtej and Pouriya answering questions from the undergraduate students. Great job!

- Earthquake Relief Fundraising: Pardis led the fundraising initiative to support the rural Iranian communities that were not being reached by the government's relief efforts. Faculty, staff and graduate students at Mechanical Engineering were part of the $1500 CAD donation that was sent from Canada, to a small team of volunteers actively serving near the Iran/Iraq border! Great job, and we send our sincere regards to the families who were displaced from their homes.
- November Potluck: It was a huge success! A BIG thank-you to everyone who participated! We had a number of faculty members, Ruth and Carianne, post-docs and graduate students all contributing to the amazing selection of food we had. We've pushed so hard on all our duties this semester, and it was great to connect with one another in one place! Picture coming soon!
And wow, we have some amazing chefs in MEGSA! - November Birthdays: We celebrated November birthdays at the same time as the potluck. Happy birthday, Maryam and Arsalan!
